“This is a Sorrow that Everybody Knows –
Everything Goes Wrong for the Poor Couple.”
YUEN Zhen, Qian Bei Huai
During ART HK 10, KWAN Sheung Chi and Doris WONG Wai Yin will lock themselves in a room and re-act in slow motion the familiar tragedy scenes in old films. They will act out one scene everyday. The few seconds of sorrow in the film will be stretched out into hours. The audience can study the artists’ sorrow through live video projection in the adjacent room. This will be a good opportunity for the two artists to experience their own sorrow.
You may experience the performance at the installation in the concourse area of Hall 3, HKCEC, throughout ART HK 10.

Rosey Chan - Past Present Future
Past Present Future is a multi-screen video installation created by Rosey Chan in collaboration with the UK artist/filmmaker Mike Figgis. It explores themes of family and personal identity. In it Chan draws on biographical material, images from her family archive, her 97 year old grandmother (who first inspired her to study piano), new video footage which she has shot in Hong Kong, poetic images of Adam and Eve set in an art gallery as well as a haunting performance by Chan in which she gives 3 interpretations of a Schumann composition; a child learning the piece, an accomplished and professional concert pianist’s performance and then an old woman’s memory of the piece. Please see the press release or www.roseychan.com for more information.
Rosey Chan’s Vernissage Performance "Alone Together" will take place on Wednesday, 26 May at 7.30pm in the Blank Canvas Restaurant.
Thank you to Eddy’s pianos and the British Council HK for their generous support.

Keitai Girl Performance "Hong Kong Wonderland" directed by Noriko Yamaguchi
artinasia.com and MEM are pleased to present a performance directed by Noriko Yamaguchi with her futuristic character Keitai Girl (mobile phone girl). A group of Keitai Girls will dance, march around the booth, and tempt audience to touch their bodies.
Although these Keitai Girls immortalize modern society’s obsession with technology and communication, they also thrive on their interaction with others - quite a personable and vulnerable emotion.
The performance will take place at 8pm during the ART HK 10 Vernissage on Wednesday, 26 May.

iPhone Orchestra
Unlike traditional instruments, iPhones do not have to be physically modified to make sound. The in-built microphone can be transformed into a non-speech sensor, enabling participants to blow into it in order to mimic a wind instrument. Likewise, iPhones can be used to mimic percussion, stringed and many other instruments.
In association with I/O (Input/Output) and I/O Off-Site, artist Samson Young will lead a public iPhone orchestra performance for ART HK 10 at 8:30pm during Vernissage on 26 May.
